In the fall, the City of Mississauga provides a vacuum leaf pickup service on streets that are more than 35 years old and have many large mature trees.
The first pickup dates, in this 2025 season, for residents in Ward 6 south of Eglinton Avenue are November 3 to 7 and the second pickup dates are November 24 to 28. For Ward 6 residents north of Eglinton, the dates are October 27 to 31 and November 17-21. Please note that the work and pickup dates are weather dependent with rain or snow potentially delaying pickups.
If your street does not have vacuum pickup, you have leaves on other days or you miss a pickup, you can still use yard waste bags or re-useable containers on your regular waste collection days. During November, yard waste, including leaves, get picked up weekly until the week of December 9.
Where Leaves are Picked-Up
You can refer to the leaf pickup route map and schedule to find out if your street is part of the leaf pickup program. Rain or early snowfall can impact the collection schedule. To find out if your street is affected, you can call 311 (905-615-4311 outside City limits).

Preparing for Leaf Pick-up
If your area is listed for leaf pickup:
- Rake your leaves into a neat pile on the boulevard’s edge or into your ditch a day or two before the start of your collection week
- Don’t mix other items such as wood, bricks or brush as they can damage equipment and injure workers
- Keep the road and curbside storm drains clear of raked leaves
- Do not place garbage bags or bins on top of loose leaf piles
- Remove parked cars and sports equipment from the road
If You Missed Leaf Pick-Up
If you missed the City’s leaf pickup or more leaves fall after your scheduled leaf pickup:
- The Region of Peel collects leaves and yard waste placed at the curb in labelled bins or paper bags on your yard waste collection day. Please visit peelregion.ca/waste for your collection schedule.
- Yard waste may also be dropped off at the nearest Community Recycling Centre, if required (disposal fees apply).
- You can compost your leaves or spread them around the base of your trees to fertilize the soil by protecting it against extreme temperatures.
Again, please do not rake leaves on to the road.
