Thinking of adding a pet to your family? Join the Mississauga Animal Services Adopt-a-thon!
Mississauga Animal Services is hosting a special Adopt‑a‑thon from June 5 to June 7, open to people looking to adopt a pet and to current pet owners in the community.
The event will take place at the Mississauga Animal Services Shelter, 735 Central Parkway West, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Residents are invited to meet adoptable pets, learn more about animal care and take advantage of special offers and services.
People who adopt a pet during the Adopt‑a‑thon can receive 50% discount on most adoption fees and 50% discount on their new pet licence. All adoptable pets have received basic medical care, including health checks and first vaccines. Most cats and dogs are already spayed or neutered. If a pet is too young or cannot have the procedure yet, adopters will receive a free spay or neuter certificate to return for the surgery at a later date.
The Adopt‑a‑thon also offers benefits for existing pet owners. Mississauga residents with licensed pets, or pets they plan to license, can visit the shelter for 50% discount on microchipping, access to an on‑site vaccination clinic on Friday, June 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (by appointment or drop-in), and free support from an expert dog trainer who can answer questions and share tips. If you are licensing your pet for the first time during the event, you can get a 50% discount on all pet licences.
The event is open to the public, and you must be 18 years or older to adopt a pet.
