Creating a Neighbourhood Hub
Bert Fleming Park is getting a meaningful upgrade. As the final component of the Credit Woodlands Integrated Road Project, the park will expand by about half an acre, with new sidewalks and pedestrian connections linking it more clearly into the surrounding neighbourhood. Building on that, the City is proposing a set of improvements to turn the park into a stronger neighbourhood hub — somewhere to gather, play, and spend time outdoors. A concept plan has been developed to give a clear sense of what’s possible, and now the focus is on hearing what works, what doesn’t, and what’s missing.
Councillor Horneck is particularly interested in hearing from residents, especially those who live closest to the park and will use it most. You may have already seen a mailed notice or the sign in the park. We expanded our typical outreach to reach more households, including those who shared feedback on the nearby street changes. The current design is a starting point, not a final decision. It’s meant to give people something concrete to react to, and there is flexibility to refine it and take the time to get it right. You can review the plan and complete the survey online, or join the community open house to share your input in person.
