The City of Mississauga is introducing a Vote From Front Door pilot program for the 2026 Municipal Election, giving some residents who are unable to leave their homes an opportunity to vote from home.

The program is intended for eligible Mississauga voters who are unable to leave home because of illness, injury or mobility limitations and who are also unable to appoint someone to vote on their behalf as a proxy.

Availability is limited. Residents who may need this option are encouraged to register as early as possible.

For residents whose health or mobility prevents them from getting to a voting location, bringing the voting process to their front door is a practical way to help ensure they can still participate in our democracy.”

You may qualify for the Vote From Front Door program if you are:

• an eligible voter in the 2026 Mississauga Municipal Election;
• unable to leave your home because of illness, injury or mobility limitations; and
• unable to appoint someone as a voting proxy.

Submitting a registration form does not automatically qualify you for the program. The City of Mississauga Elections Office will make the final determination about eligibility.

Voting will take place by appointment during a designated period before Election Day.

A trained team of two or three election officials will come to your home and facilitate the voting process.

The same principles that apply at a voting location—including the privacy and integrity of your vote—apply when voting through the program.

Residents interested in the program should complete the City’s online Vote From Front Door registration form.

Because this is a pilot program and the number of appointments is limited, residents who believe they may qualify should register sooner rather than later.

The Elections Office will contact you to determine whether you qualify for the program.

If you qualify:

1. You will receive a screening phone call.
2. A follow-up call will be made to schedule your voting appointment.
3. You will receive an email containing a voting agreement and program guidelines.

The City will contact you on the morning of your appointment to check you in.

You will receive another screening call approximately 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment, and the election officials will then come to your home to facilitate your vote.

The Vote From Front Door program provides another way to make Mississauga’s municipal election accessible to residents who face significant barriers to getting to a voting location.

Because appointments are limited, anyone who thinks they may qualify—or anyone helping a family member, friend or neighbour who may qualify—should review the requirements and register early.
