We are holding a free public skate at Huron Park Recreation Centre and we invite you to volunteer!
On Friday, February 21, from 7:15 PM to 8:45 PM, Councillor Joe Horneck is hosting a Free Skate Event at Huron Park Recreation Centre Arena (830 Paisley Boulevard West, south of Dundas St and west of Mavis Rd). In addition to free skating, the event will feature hot chocolate, cotton candy, displays, draws, and more.
We are looking for high school student volunteers to assist with:
- Welcoming and signing in attendees at the registration desk.
- Directing people where to go.
- Staffing the hot chocolate station.
- Assisting with the cotton candy station.
- Running the table for a free draw.
- Giving kids free temporary tattoos.
- Staffing a ring toss game.
- Helping with event setup and cleanup.
- And more.
It appears we are going to have more volunteers than we need. So, we will cut-off sign-ups on this page once we have enough people to help. You must sign-up here even if you emailed us already.
If you have friends who want to join you to volunteer, each person needs to sign-up and provide their information. We also encourage you to invite people who just want to come skate and not volunteer.
We will be happy to provide you with confirmation of your community service hours worked. If you school has particular forms to be used, please remember to bring them. Also, for those who sign-up for a City Hall shift, we will be happy to give you a tour of City Hall if you like.
If you have any questions, feel free to use the comments section or contact William Pitcher at william.pitcher@mississauga.ca or 905-896-5602.

Volunteer Registration is closed for this event.
We are now in the process of contacting everyone who signed-up.
