Apply to be a natural ice rink volunteer

Love skating in your community and looking to give back? Consider becoming a natural ice rink volunteer this winter season.

As a volunteer, you will make and maintain the rink and shovel snow off the ice surface when it snows. City staff will provide a heated rink hut with equipment and install the rink boards.

Natural ice rinks are generally open between January to March depending on the weather. Temperatures need to be below negative fives degrees Celsius for the water to freeze and create ice. Volunteers will need to be comfortable working outdoors in cold temperatures, likely in the late evening any day of the week, after-dark hours.
