Meet Joe

City of Mississauga and Region of Peel Councillor

Joe was elected as Ward 6 Councillor for the 2022-2026 term.

Joe’s politics are rooted in the community thanks to his love of family, head for numbers and commitment to giving back.

Prior to being elected in 2022, Joe has been a senior banking professional, who has been at the Vice President and Director level of several large financial institutions and has managed staff on three different continents.

Joe is married to Laura Naismith, an education scientist, and they have chosen Mississauga Ward 6 as the ideal place to raise their three children (Alex, Claire and James) who also attend school in the ward. Joe and his family are avid users of Mississauga’s parks and recreation programs and facilities, and they are passionate about maintaining the excellent quality of life in Mississauga.

Joe has a Masters Degree in International Political Economy from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom, a Double Honours BA in History and Political Science from Wilfrid Laurier University, and numerous financial accreditations.

Questions About Joe

Just some of the personal questions people have asked when we’ve been out knocking doors.

Yes he does. Joe lives in the Creditview and Rathburn area where has resided with his family for many years.

Joe is 45 even if he doesn’t look it.
Yes.

Seriously though, there are no parties in Ontario municipal governments and Joe considers himself a middle-of-the-road moderate.  His finance background means he cares about good fiscal management, but he is also a champion for issues such as enhanced public transit.

Joe has been pretty busy lately, but prior to being elected he used to like to watch City Council meetings. — No really.
